Testing out the new version of Word and OMG I’m Alive

So, it that time again when I try and start blogging, again, for the third time…. Will I be able to, only time will tell in the land of Steve not finishing projects…. As always xD. Anyway first thing first, I plan to type out my blog using the new version of word, or Office 15, or Office 2013 (It really has three different names) as from using it so far it looks really fun to use. And much simpler, time to talk about new features, YES PLEASE.

First new feature, image inserting, always been a pain to insert images into word, this shows more when it comes to inserting screenshots and images on the web. Both of these have now been made much simpler with the new version of word. Office 2013 as I’m going to call it comes with the ability to search Bing (no Google sadly) and then one click, and the image is in my document

That all in good but what about screenshots, the pain of holding the shift key, then screenshot, focusing on the application, it can be a huge pain I know this as I have to insert screenshots into my University Assignments all the time. This is now made simple with Word 2013, just click on Insert – Screenshot and you can input a screenshot of any application you have open.

Now for another feature that is going to help quite a bit, and this is the ability to insert YouTube videos, yes this was in old versions of Word but this was a very hard thing to do, now it as simple as inserting online images. Just click, Insert – Online Video and then search YouTube and Bang, it in your Word document, you can even view it within word now, pretty neat feature.

The final feature that I’m really liking in Word 13 is a very simple one added to image inserting, yet it made the thing I hated most in word super easy to do now, and that Anchoring an image to text, may be a very simple feature, but my word, it stops the most annoying thing of getting your next lot of text under the image. And all I say to that is thank you Microsoft for making my life 30 times easier now.

You may ask what is my final view on the new version of Microsoft Office Word, well the new word makes my life so much simpler when it comes to inserting images into word from the web, and it also makes inserting screenshots much easier. YouTube inserting will be nice for PowerPoint as well, but the changes to image editing has made typing a document much more fun now. I don’t normally say yes to upgrade your office programs quickly, but this makes life so much simpler, and I’m looking forward to using Office 2013 to write and produce my University Assignments in the New Year, well done Microsoft, you won me over with this new update.

Jump Festa News, katethegreat19 is soo Awesome and Signatures

first thing first, sorry for no blog post in a few days, been a bit busy spamming my ipad, and I have no blogging app for my IPad

anyway first on the list today is jump, yep that was the weekend just gome and it was pretty good, heard some good news from the event, but not the stuff I really wanted to hear. for a start both Final Fantasy Versus 13 wasn’t there and Final Fantasy X HD wasn’t there either :/. but kingdom hearts 3d was there the trailer looks epic, but I kinda lost a bit with how some of the characters can appear (well 1)

Anyway after the warning, well if you have played kingdom hearts 2 you will know that Axel died after saving Sora near the end of the game, but yet he in the new trailer for kingdom hearts 3d…. how the heck can that be, he meant to be…. well DEAD maybe. ok enough with the spoiler, you can watch the trailer in full below

Next an awesome singer on youtube, her youtube name is katethegreat19, she like the best singer i heard in years, i’m planning on possibally buying her albums cuz she soo awesome. she does her own music but what she does as well is add lyrics to other songs, like she did a english version of Suteki Da Ne from Final Fantasy X. She also did a cover of Temple of the Moon from World of Warcraft as well in which is used for the Intro of my Videos you can listen to both songs below

Christmas Stream, and A Few Blog Updates

Just a quick blog post today (Sorry no set topic XD) I just wanna share what i’m planning to do :)

Anyway I am planning to do a Christmas Stream for all my youtubers and other people alike :D this is planned for Christmas eve and I plan to run it from 11AM GMT til midnight that night. what I am planning to do is play games, show tips and tricks on creating YouTube videos recording etc and even do a behind the scenes of my life, like how a video start from recording right to uploading. I’m planning to do a trailer on what i’m planning to do during 2012 in which I might do a ‘first view’ during the live stream as well :D soo stay tuned to the blog for updates

Finally before I go a few updates have been done to the blog today (as part of Steve Gaming World Blog Update 2.0, we are now in my head on version 2.1.3 (we started the day on 2.1). here are the update incase you didn’t see

Blog Name Change, Blog Design 2.0 and Sonic CD Impressions

SONIC BOOM, SONIC BOOM, SONIC BOOM…. oh wait I'm meant to be writing…. ooo shiny design. anyway first thing first i’m deciding to change what I call this blog, it was ‘Steven O’Shea Blog’ but as i’m gonna be talking about gaming most of the time the name of the blog will be changing to ‘Steve’s Gaming World’ don’t worry the content will be the same, just the name, My YouTube will be getting this new name as well, again don’t worry no new channel or anything :P. I know the logo still the same that because I had no time to make a new one, i’m gonna do it tomorrow maybe XD

if you are blind and u not seen, the blog looks way different today :D, yep, blog version 2.0, i finally decided to make it today XD. soo first thing you can see is that the blog ‘much brighter’ now, got rid of all that black ‘not that i hate you black’ it just needed to be brighter. also, some of the sidebar items have changed, sorry but for now the subscribe feature been removed, looked to ugly :P it been replaced for now with a subscribe via email thing. I also added a poll of the week feature, every week I will make a new poll for you guys to answer, this week it ‘Who is the main character you are looking forward to in Final Fantasy XIII-2?’. just look to the side to vote my people. finally, I tweaked the twitter feed on the side, that will now only show the last 3 tweets instead of 5 it showed before.

soo Sonic CD came out today, and I finished it today (I payed £4.50 for 2 hours play :P) but to be honest it was worth the buy it was a good game, was one of the easier old sonics but still awesome to play. it was nice to see amy’s original design XD and playing the metal sonic boss in the original game (I played the boss just via sonic generations). if you want a good game to play over Christmas pick it out on XBOX, or IOS, or PSN unless you in north America then you got to wait til the 20th December.

New blog design coming

Im just writing a quick one for now, im just writing to say that over the next few hours you are going to see changes to the blog... I won't say now but you will find out soon enough :)

New XBOX Apps, Final Fantasy XIII-2 Soundtrack and Sonic CD Out Tomorrow

sooo sorry for no blog post yesterday…. sonic the hedgehog took all my time :P sooo it time for one today, first o topic is the new apps for XBOX. three went live today, YouTube, Blinkbox and MSN Video. the only one i’m gonna be talking about is YouTube, cuz that the only one I used. the interface is very nice, well just like the rest of the dashboard, i’m a pretty big fan of the new dashboard myself. searching like it is on Bing, soo again love it cuz i like the keyboard interface for search, I wished they did that for the rest of the dashboard as well. viewing video is very nice, but like always on big screen if the quality not nice then it looks horrible.
I don’t like the way the subscriptions work on it, you can view videos by the time they were uploaded like on the home page of YouTube, you can only view by channel, which can get really annoying. and there a bug where stuff sometimes don’t load. but apart from that the YouTube app o the XBOX 360 is very nice, you should download it and give it a try.



soo now onto FFXIII-2 Soundtrack, if you didn’t know it got leaked today, and i’m listening to it right now as i post this blog post. soo far from what I heard from it it very nice. my top songs from it soo far is sarah’s theme and the ruler of time and space, a video of both will be in this post. i’ll post more about it tomorrow :D

in other stuff… xbox got epic again as Sonic CD comes out tomorrow, it the only major sonic game that i’m yet to play :( but thanks SEGA for finally giving me a chance to play the game :) soo looking forward to it i heard that you can play as tails in this one yet you culdn’t in the original game.. and you can have both the japan/eu and the us soundtrack on this version, which is very nice.

What Program Do I Use, Awesome Gaming Music And Sora and Kairi Kiss!!!!

soo I was thinking on what I could write for today blog, then a friend on twitter asked me for help with blogger. this got me thinking about what I use to do basic tasks, such as web browsing, music, twitter and writing this blog. well for today’s blog I give you a list of the programs I use and why

first web browsing and for that it Google chrome, I don’t use it just because it Google, I use it because it a great browser. it quick at loading all the webpages I use, runs flash amazingly and it opens really quickly. I been using Google chrome for 3 years and I wouldn’t use another web browser anytime soon.

 

next is music, for that it windows media player… yh yh i know it the default player but I never faulted media player. simple interface, never crashes, integrates with windows 7 library great (well it should it was made for windows 7 after all) and it has a mini mode…. which I love, I do like Itunes as well but the way it copies all your music twice really ticks me off <.<

next twitter… most people use the website but some people like to use twitter clients on their pc as it can notify you when new tweets are incoming as well as post onto multiple accounts at once. for this I use a application called Metrotwit. it a free application which has it interface inspired from the windows phone/New XBOX Dashboard/Windows 8 Metro interface. it looks very clean and it has also mention fill AND auto hashtag fill… double result. you can download Metrotwit from http://www.metrotwit.com/

I even use a program to write this very blog post that i’m writing right now, and for that I use Windows Live Writer. the reason I like Live Writer soo much is that it makes tasks such as editing Images size and video size much easier. web interfaces such as bloggers isn’t the greatest and could be improved. but using windows live writer makes it soo much easier you can download Windows Live Writer from http://download.live.com or from http://explore.live.com/windows-live-writer-xp if you are running Windows XP

Gaming music… it awesome you got to admit that… but I want to share a few songs that I love with you guys :D. the first one is the ending theme for Final Fantasy X…. that song soo emotional it just amazing :) the next one is his world, from Sonic 2006 (refer to yesterday blog post here to see why that game didn’t suck) that sooo awesome as well. finally one i can’t post the song but a song used in the scene in kingdom hearts 358/2 days SPOILER ALERT!!!!! when Xion leaves Roxas. i can’t find the song but it just right for that moment XD
